The Project
Under the Health and Safety at Work (Major Hazard Facilities) Regulations 2016 the Mercury Ltd binary cycle power plants have been designated as upper tier Major Hazard Facilities (MHF).
Mercury is required to implement a complete Process Safety system for its MHF.
Thorndon Cook was engaged to prepare a technical specification covering binary cycle turbines and associated equipment.
Our Role
- Initial assessment of Safety Case features required for submission to WorkSafe NZ
- Preparation of draft process safety specification for binary cycle turbine
- Specification was structured for integration with overall Mercury MHF process safety system
Results
The process safety specification prepared by Thorndon Cook provided the client with input to the overall process safety system being developed for major hazard facilities incorporating binary cycle plant.
