The Project
TCP was engaged by Laborelec to prepare a comprehensive guideline report on operation and maintenance best practice and typical issues specific to geothermal power plants.
Results
TCP developed a tailored report content in concertation with Laborelec; several iterations were planned to be as interactive as possible. The topics covered in the report were following:
- geothermal operating environment: processes, thermodynamics, resources, well production and geothermal fluids, design of wells, steamfield design, power plant design
- steamfield and power plant main equipment O&M – issues and risks: review of all main equipment
- geothermal steamfield and power plant operation
- maintenance schedules – geothermal steamfield and power plant: annual maintenance, major overhauls, scaling and corrosion issues etc
- O&M staffing and costs: staff organisation and numbers, staff skill levels and experience,
- steamfield and power plant operating and maintenance cost
- maintenance capex
- health and safety – best practice
