The Project
Wiratman & Associates required front-end engineering design (FEED), to determine key project parameters for the steamfield piping system and power plant for a proposed new 1 x 55 MW geothermal power station in south-west Java. It was proposed that the development employ standard single-flash technology, with steam turbine condenser cooling provided by a mechanical draught cooling tower.
Our Role
Using relevant well output data, meteorological data and site visits, Thorndon Cook Power staff were involved with developing a model to optimise the sizing of crucial steamfield piping and power plant components. We then used outputs from the model to refine plant layouts and to provide basic specifications for those components.
Once the above was completed, we prepared the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) technical specifications for both the steamfield and power plant.
Results
We delivered a robust and efficient concept design and technical specifications, which were used as the basis of the EPC contract for the design and construction of the steamfield and 55 MW power plant.
