Burgos Wind Farm - Philippines
A Thorndon Cook member was engaged by the Burgos Wind Farm Wind Power Corporation (“EBWPC”) on the electrical design review for the 115 /34.5 kV substation for the 150 MW wind energy project, that was built at Burgos, Ilocos Norte, Luzon, Philippines. The wind farm comprises 50 off 3 MW Vestas wind turbines located on a 650 ha coastal site. The 50 wind turbines are connected on a 34.5 kV radial system with 5 feeders connecting the turbines to the Burgos 115/34.5 kV substation at the wind farm site. A 42 kilometer single circuit 115kV transmission line connects to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (“NGCP”) Laoag substation for connection to the rest of the Luzon grid.Thorndon Cook staff involved in this project:
Nam Theun 2 hydropower project (NT2) - Lao PDR
A Thorndon Cook staff member was engaged by the Nam Theun 2 Power Company (NTPC) during the commissioning of the Nam Theun 2 hydropower project (NT2) in Lao PDR. Activities related to administration of the Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT), for the sale of the power output from the power station from the 4 x 250 MW Francis units, delivered via a 306 km, double-circuit 500 kV transmission line to the Thai grid at Roi Et substation; and the PPA with Electricity du Laos (EdL) for the power output from the 2 x 40 MW Pelton units delivered via a 28 km, double-circuit 115 kV transmission line to the EdL Mahaxai Substation.Thorndon Cook staff involved in this project:
Cahora Bassa Power Station Rehabilitation - Mozambique
The Cahora Bassa scheme consists of a 164 m-high double curvature arch dam, with eight sluice gates and a spillway with a maximum discharge capacity of 13,500 m3/s and the South powerhouse, which is an underground cavern housing five 415 MW Francis turbines and five associated 480 MVA generators. Thorndon Cook staff were engaged in supporting the client for the monitoring and inspection of the contractor’s site and works activities undertaken to complete the rehabilitation, modernization and provision of remote control of the the Cahora Bassa powerplant (known as ReabSul).
