The strength of Thorndon Cook is the world class team of experienced engineers who have an established reputation of providing high quality engineering services across a broad range of power generation technologies and all aspects of consulting. The range of services include up-front services such as strategic consulting and feasibility studies, and the provision of Owner and Lender engineering services up to the stage where tender documents are issued.

Once tender documents are issued, Thorndon Cook has the ability to continue providing Owner and Lender engineer services right through to project award and completion or alternately to provide design engineering services to tenderers and the eventual contractor. One recent example is the Te Mihi geothermal power plant where Thorndon Cook employees were involved as Owner Engineer to Contact Energy from pre-feasibility right through to the point where tender documents were issued and then as design engineer to the EPC joint venture during the project implementation phase.

Once a power plant is in commercial operation, Thorndon Cook also has the expertise to provide due diligence, valuation or asset management services over the life of the power plant.

One feature of Thorndon Cook is that it is not just a mechanical engineering consultancy. It also has experienced process, electrical and C&I engineers who can work either as individuals in their own right or together as a team as required to provide the range of engineering services to fulfil all of a client’s engineering needs. Thorndon Cook can also cover civil and structural engineering via a close network of experienced Associate staff.
